Teacher. That's the best way to describe David "Brotha Newz" Muhammad. Whether it's in the classroom, the dojo, or on the mic, Brotha Newz is always in teacher mode. A student of Hip Hop since the 90s "Golden Era", Newz prides himself on delivering meaningful content through a smooth delivery.

For Newz, music is nothing more than a vehicle. A vehicle for knowledge. For discourse. For change. If the music doesn't uplift or provoke thought, then it's not "Newz". Artists like: Black Thought, Lupe Fiasco, Common, Fresh Daily, Mos Def (Yasiin Bey), Mickey Factz, & Phonte have all served to inspire Newz's foray into music. However, New'z musical sound is also influenced by jazz, Afrobeat, Indie Rock, and Classical genres.

Throughout high school, Newz dabbled in several makeshift rap groups that never truly amounted to much. In college, his love for the power of words transitioned into performing spoken word at various open mics and talent competitions. The desire to make a hip hop project always loomed, but never materialized. Now, many years later, Newz is finally making his dreams a reality. In the fall of 2016, he released the mixtape "Construction Paper". Now his plan is to release a full length album in November 2016 titled, "The Hanging Trees". Produced entirely by Conductor Williams, the project looks to take the symbolism of the Hunger Games series and illustrate it's relevance to daily life. This project is sure to inspire thought by the listener!

So with that, stay tuned! You never know what the "Newz" may deliver!
